internet and web technology

 Introduction

Description of internet and web technology, Internet is a bunch of different forms of networks, situated in the web servers. Web technology is considered as the technology by which we can develop or create different types of web pages.

What is the internet?

A network means collection of connected communicating devices such as computers and printers. The lowercase letter i of an internet means two or more networks that can communicate with each other. The most prominent Internet is called the Internet , uppercase letter I, association of beyond hundreds of thousands of interconnected networks. Private persons along with  numerous organizations such as government agencies, corporations, research facilities, schools, and libraries in more than 100 countries use the internet. Millions of individuals and users use the internet.

By the mid 1960s, mainframe computers in research organizations were stand-alone devices. Computers from different manufacturers have no possibility to communicate with one another. The ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency)  in the department of defense (DoD) was fascinated in discovering a way to connect computers so that the researchers they financed or supported could share their discoveries, in order to decrease costs and eliminate duplication of effort.

In 1967,at an Association for computing machinery (ACM) meeting ARPA provided its idea for ARPANET, a small network connected computer. By the notion each host computer would be attached to a specific  specialized computer, called an interface message processor (IMP).this interface message processor is on, and computers can connect to one another.

Internet architecture and it's protocol

In internet architecture, a customer at home appeals to his or her ISP over a dial-up telephone line.

The modem is a card within the personal computer that transforms the digital signal assembled by computer to analog signals over the telephone system. Such signals are sent to the ISPs point of present (Pop) , at which point they are extracted from the telephone system and inserted into the ISPs regional network.

The regional network of the ISP contains interconnected routers in the different cities. When the packet is sent for a host served directly by the ISPs, the packet is submitted  to the host . Alternatively it is provided to the ISPs backbone operator. Although various backbones occur in the world, a packet possibly has to visit a competing backbone. All main backbones connected at the NAPs  to give permission packets to hop between backbones. A NAP is a room full of routers, minimum one person backbone. Throughout this all the routers are connected by a local area network  (LAN) in the room, so packets can be sent from any backbone to any other backbone.

Protocols - Protocols means a number of regulations or permission that define common language that computers on a network use for communication with others computers. It also identifies the condition following that a specific message should be sent or responded and the specific technique for doing it. It grants definition on how the computers communicate to each other.

Ethernet - Ethernet is utilized to transform information to local area networks (LAN). Ethernet particularizes a number of wiring and signaling standards for the physical layer, two ways of network access (Media access control/data link layer) and a common address format.

Internet Protocol (IP) - Internet protocol is used to achieve communicable global addresses of the computers. It is also used to achieve communicable global addresses to the computers. The computers commonly detect each other  by the IP addresses.

Transport Control Protocol (TCP) - Transport control protocol ensures reliable, proper delivery of data from the sender to the receiver. It breaks out the giant messages, transports them safely and reassembles them.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) - File transfer protocol is used to connect two computers across the internet thus the user of one computer can transfer files and perform file commands on the other computer. This protocol exchanges files across any network that supports TCP/IP protocol.

Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) - It is used to retrieve web pages from a web server.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) - It is used for e-mail transmissions.

Types of internet connection

There are different types of internet connections are available-

Dial-up connections - The dial-up access to the internet is an accepted method for the reason that it is cheaper. For utilizing this access, the computer is supposed to have a modem to connect to the phone system and software that uses the modem. This software commands the modem to place a telephone call to the number given by the ISP. Another modem answers the call by giving the connection at the ISP. Most of the ISPs  produce 56 K connections. The 56k relates to  the speed with which the information from the internet may circulate down the phone lines into your computer . The connection link is confirmed by dialing up to a specific ISP.

High speed connection - High Speed connections give information to travel fast. In many Instances internet services produce better results at higher speeds with this connection . The fundamental types of high speed connections are as follows-

Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) - The computer is always on connection to the internet with DSL. This kind of technology transmits digital data using the existing phone lines to carry services.

Cable - Even though the same wires are utilized, no interference to or from the telephone calls. The internet signal is implemented on the TV cable network.

Satellite - Such connection needs a phone line to send information. It gets data at very high speed from the satellite.

Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) - It is an international communications standard for sending voice, video and data over the digital telephone lines or over normal telephone lines.

 Conclusions

In this article ,we've talked about the internet , its history , architecture and protocol. It is a completely excellent facility to learn and communicate with just one click of the mouse. We learn about the protocols for email and file transfer. And we can say that internet is a best invention for the World.
